Giving it a try today. So far it ‘feels’ faster than firefox. This could really change the web, and is an awesome move by google.

I agree. I’m looking forward to the Linux / Mac release. Seems to work great on the two Windows XP boxes I have it on at work.

By ‘feels’ you mean the render is faster. Try comparing it with Midori, which uses WebKit also, you won’t see much of a diff.
So atm all credit goes to KDE team & Apple really, unless Google is using the GTK+ port of WebKit (which made headlines earlier by being the first to get 100/100 on acid3)

I wouldn’t call Firefox a web browser anymore but application container thus I’m kinda against comparing any web browser with Firefox, I personally use firefox only for its extensions but for browsing I use Galeon which is the loveliest browser on earth

I actually had ‘render’ in there, but I didn’t want someone to comment and say ‘No actually gecko is 10x faster in these benchmarks’ blah blah, so I said ‘feels’ thinking people wouldn’t argue about that

I’m sure it will be a great browser. Good enough to entice ignorant users to let Google collect their life story and put it in a database somewhere.

Tried it on my Windows XP box at work, I really like most of it… unfortunately it’s missing adblock and weave… so it’s only the “alternate” browser for now… love the “tab in a process” concept… seems really fast and fairly solid, polished look to it… I’m guessing they tested it pretty well.

Haha, yeah, until they get AdBlock I’m not switching.
