Was reading slashdot today, and saw that Vista won’t let users run it on VMs, and only move it to another device once. That is one thing Ubuntu won’t ask you to do.

I’ve been trying RC1 under Parallels Desktop on my Mac and it’s pretty awful. Vista is a lot slower than XP and seems very dumbed down. I can’t see actually using it for any work. Vista constantly gets in the way with all of its handholding for beginners.
Ubuntu runs very nicely under Parallels. I’ve been using it to try out Edgy Eft, since I’ll probably keep running Dapper on my server.

Dose this surprise you? The whole closed source community cannot afford to let the OS migrate to the user’s next computer; there are shareholders to think about. Closed source is starting to greed it’s self to death, when their products were superior or easier to use they could keep market share, now they are not. It will take years for them to loose the majority, but the slide has started. The next step is to get a usable Linux distribution released on a major makers product line. Something like Dell or Gateway releasing their full line with a Linux option. Leave the price the same but load it up with open source software, so that the user can have the chose of a Windows machine with the usual trial software suspects.
